Although WhatsApp still has a long way to go in terms of features, Meta is gradually improving the application. Proof of this is that WhatsApp already allows you to pay with cryptocurrencies in some countries or that it will begin to warn you about possible scams.
In fact, in the last couple of years the functions of the application have grown significantly, but a very important one was missing, until today. WhatsApp is already testing polls for groups and they should be coming to the stable app soon. What do we know about this?
WhatsApp surveys will be private and secure
Thanks to the WaBetaInfo team, we know that WhatsApp beta 22.6.0.70 for iOS includes a new feature that many have been waiting for years. We talked about nothing more and nothing less than the possibility of conducting surveys in WhatsApp groups , as has been the case on Telegram for years.
The option is in a fairly early stage of development , so you will not be able to create a survey without installing the WhatsApp beta on your iPhone. However, you can see a preview in the screenshot that accompanies this section.
What is it showing? The WhatsApp request for you to enter the survey question you want to send to your group. There are no details on what the survey will look like once it’s created or how many answer options you’ll be able to add, so we’ll have to wait a bit longer to find out.
However, a pass through the application code revealed the following: the surveys will only be available in WhatsApp groups and will be end-to-end encrypted (including the answers). Therefore, only the people who participate in the group will be able to see the poll and its result, although not the option for which each person voted.
When will surveys be available on WhatsApp? We do not know, but seeing how little developed this functionality is, we would bet for a few months . Will they come to WhatsApp for Android? For sure yes, although we don’t know if it will be a simultaneous launch or if the surveys will be exclusive to iOS for a while.
By the way, this would be an official functionality, but there have been methods for doing WhatsApp surveys very easily for a long time.
