New Xiaomi Redmi A1, the most basic and cheapest Xiaomi mobile that does not have MIUI

Xiaomi has just launched one of the most curious phones in its catalog. It goes by the name of Xiaomi Redmi A1 and arrives as one of the most basic smartphones in its catalog. Its hardware is focused on being able to offer a very competitive price and perform basic Android tasks. Does A1 ring a bell? Well, there is good news, as it will host one of the main features of the old Xiaomi Mi A1 : it comes with Android Stock and without MIUI.

We already told you a few days ago that Xiaomi is preparing a new brand of devices without MIUI and with Android Stock. This Redmi A1 seems to be one of the first field tests. Its limited hardware forces it to have a version almost without the presence of MIUI and very similar to Android Stock.

Redmi A1: thinking only of the most basic

The device bets on the price and conditions, how could it be otherwise, the list of features. Its design is reminiscent of the Redmi 10A or Redmi 9A , as it offers standard bezels and a notch.

The rear flaunts 2 cameras and a plastic unibody body. It also offers a USB C and a 3.5mm headphone jack. There is nothing remarkable and it has everything that a basic smartphone should have.

Features of the Redmi A1

  • 6.52-inch screen
    • HD+ resolution
    • IPS-LCD
  • MediaTek Helio A22 processor
  • 2GB of LPDDR4X RAM
  • 32GB of internal storage
  • 8+2 MP rear camera
  • 5 MP front camera
  • Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 5.0, 4G LTE…
  • 5,000mAh battery
    • 10W charging (includes charger)
  • android 12

The inclusion of Android 12 without MIUI determines that the device is too basic to run a layer as complex as MIUI. It is not the first time that we see something like this, since the old Android One already followed this strategy.

The best thing about the device is its price, which remains at about 81 euros-dollars to change . There is only a 2+32 GB version and it will be available in India in a few days. We will have to wait to see if it reaches other markets such as Xiaomi’s most basic and cheapest mobile . What do you think of the Redmi A1 ?
