Jin Fan, the head of MIUI development, has confirmed that this Thursday there will be 4 major changes to the customization layer. They are all focused on visual enhancement, minimalism, and performance.
- Less bloatware: Xiaomi wants its devices to arrive with few pre-installed applications. With MIUI 14 it will reduce this number to only the essentials of the system such as the browser, the calculator, the calendar and little else. At least it will in China. - More practical functions: MIUI 14 wants to make you productive and have functions that really serve a purpose. It is possible that the company will remove many of the functions that, although interesting, have not done much for years.

When does MIUI 14 arrive on Xiaomi phones?
The fact that MIUI 14 is presented this week does not mean that the update is close . The company has already announced that it has started a limited public testing event in order to be a beta tester. Of course, this event is exclusively for Chinese users.
This event will cease on December 28, so the public beta is expected to launch in mid-January 2023. Then it will take 1-2 months for the first devices to be officially and stable updated.
