Tinder's 'blind date' will let you chat before viewing profile photos

The new function of “Blind Date” in Tinder proposes to meet people through a conversation before seeing the profile photos . A way that tries to make Tinder less superficial, and give more importance to personality than to physical appearance.

If after the chat there is an affinity, when making a match the profiles will be opened and we can continue talking, otherwise that “Blind date” session ends. We have already explained what it is to “match” on Tinder, basically two users showing mutual interest.

Before starting the “Blind Date” you will have to answer some questions that will serve as a starting point for talking , and will also help to make the pairings. The chat has a time limit , at the end we have to “like” (“I like”) to maintain contact, or jump to the next user.

The “Blind Date” mode appears in the “Quick Chat” section of the Explore tab , where original ways of meeting people based on different types of affinities have been added. For example, flirting on Tinder thanks to mutual musical tastes or common points of view on Tinder Vibes.

Actually, it was already possible to talk on Tinder before “matching” with the Hot Takes feature, where the profile is revealed little by little. The company claims that with “Blind Date” you get 40% more matches than before.

In theory, this allows us to value people more for their personality than for their physical appearance. In practice, it will be necessary to see if after seeing the profile photos there are not many participants who break the match when they see that it is not what they expected.

Initially, the “Blind Date” arrives on Tinder only in English , those who live in other countries will have to wait a few weeks for it to be activated for non-English speaking countries, but it is planned to launch it worldwide.

Recently, Tinder Premium became cheaper by not discriminating by age, and now an interesting feature has arrived, which brings the popular concept of blind dates, made popular by movies and television shows, closer to the app.
