A future update will apply a new time limit when deleting messages for everyone on WhatsApp , which we should see sometime in 2022. WhatsApp will increase this maximum limit for the second time since it was released.

Now it seems that the new time limit will be 2 days and 12 hours , compared to the current one of 1 hour, 8 minutes and 16 seconds (that is, 4,096 seconds). This is the second time that this figure has been increased, which at first was just 7 minutes.
The limit of 2 days and 12 hours appears in the test version 2.22.4.10 of WhatsApp on Android , but only in the internal code of the app. At the moment it is not applied, although it is to be imagined that the change will be made official throughout 2022.
Of course, the time limit could be modified again internally before being applied to everyone. Previous leaks pointed to a maximum of 7 days and 8 minutes to delete messages, and even that a maximum time would be dispensed with.
It is strange that WhatsApp experiments with several such different periods . It seems to seek a balance between the possibility of deleting inappropriate messages and the right of other members of a chat to keep a record of the conversation.
