The POCO series 4 have a very short time on the market, but it seems that Xiaomi is already working on what will be its substitutes in a few months. Specifically, we are talking about the POCO F5 and M5, whose first details have been leaked and look really good.
The POCO F5 will be a beast with a high-end processor, 2K screen and 50 MP camera
Although the POCO F4 was launched just a few weeks ago and is an excellent option, Xiaomi is already thinking about its replacement. According to the famous Digital Chat Station leaker, the Chinese company is already working on what will be the next high-end affordable POCO. In addition, it highlights that the hardware jump will be quite large , something that was not seen between the POCO F3 and F4.
The leaker points out that the POCO F5 could be the Chinese Xiaomi Redmi K60 global version , although we do not know if it will be the standard version or a superior one. If this happens, we would not be surprised at all, since it is not the first time that the company has done something like this with the POCOs. Regarding the data provided, this is what we know about the future POCO F5 / Redmi K60:
- OLED screen with 2K resolution , central hole for the camera and optical sensor.
- Qualcomm Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 or MediaTek Dimensity 9000+ processor .
- 50 MP main camera with Sony IMX766 sensor.
As you can see, these are very good specifications for what will be the next affordable top of the range from POCO. The choice of the Sony IMX766 sensor is super positive , since it is the same as the Xiaomi 12 and it has fantastic performance. Meanwhile, the dual platform for the processor is something that does not surprise us, since it would be a decision similar to that of the current generation (Redmi K50). It remains to know other data such as the amount of RAM and storage, the battery and the charging system, but it already looks like a great mobile.
The POCO M5 will have a 120 Hz screen, a 64 MP camera and a Helio G96 processor (without 5G)
Regarding the future POCO M5, the leak of details and specifications has been more varied, having to unite different sources to get to know it better. On the one hand, XiaoMIUI points out that there will be two variants of the standard POCO M5 : the 22071219CG, codenamed “rock” and the 22071219CI, codenamed “stone”. Both devices would be the same, except that one will have NFC (Rock) and one will not (Stone).
Specs-tech dares to point out many of the features of the future POCO M5 , pointing to the following hardware:
- 6.7” AMOLED screen with Full HD+ resolution (2400 x 1080 pixels) and 120 Hz refresh rate.
- MediaTek Helio G96 processor with Mali-G57 MC2 graphics.
- Up to 8GB of LPPDR4X RAM and 256GB of UFS 2.2 internal storage.
- Triple rear camera with 64 MP + 8 MP + 2 MP sensors.
- 32 MP front camera .
- 4750 mAh battery with fast charge.
- Extras such as dual-band WiFi 5, Dual-SIM 4G , Bluetooth 5.2, GPS, FM Radio, NFC (depending on market), fingerprint reader and 3.5mm headphone jack.
All these are specifications that must be taken with tweezers, since they are leaks that in the end may not end up being fulfilled. Even so, it seems to us to be more than correct hardware for what could be the future POCO M5. And going back a bit, XiaoMIUI points out that different models of the POCO M5 could be launched, suggesting (at least) the following:
- POCO M5 4G + NFC (rock) .
- POCO M5 4G (stone) .
- POCO M5s 4G (a rebranded Redmi Note 10S).
- POCO M5 Pro 4G .
At the moment nothing is known about possible POCO M5 with 5G connectivity, but we would not be surprised if they reach the market. After all, there are the POCO M3 Pro 5G, POCO M4 Pro 5G and even the POCO M4 5G.
When will the POCO F5 and M5 be launched on the market
Taking into account the short time that the POCO F4 has been on the market, it is likely that the POCO F5 will take at least half a year more to be presented. Even so, we bet on a longer period, especially if it will be a renown for the Redmi K60.
For its part, the POCO M5 we do see it closer , being able to launch before the end of the year. As a general rule, the standard model comes out a quarter after the Pro version is released, so you will have to keep an eye on this.
