Android 13 has already reached practically all Google Pixels, but not without problems. On the big G support website, many Pixel phone owners are reporting that Android Auto has stopped working in their cars after updating to Android 13 . The first report of this problem came in early September, coinciding with the official deployment of the update for the company’s mobile phones.
Strangely, the reports keep coming in, which means Google still hasn’t resolved the issue even though they said they’re looking into it a month ago. It seems that it is a very particular bug that only affects a small number of users , since Android Auto has not stopped working on all Google Pixel mobiles. The main mobile affected is the Google Pixel 5.
If Android Auto isn’t working on your Google Pixel running Android 13, you can try this solution
While there is no official fix yet and going back to Android 12 from Android 13 is only possible for developers, the community has found some workarounds that seem to undo the issue. Specifically, these are the two solutions recommended by the community if Android Auto is not working on your Google Pixel:
- Reset your car’s infotainment system.
- Change the “Default USB Settings” to ” File Transfer/Android Auto ” in the phone’s developer options.
You can try both to see if they work. In any case, the official solution should be very close and it will surely consist of updating the Android Auto app on your mobile . To do this, simply go to the Google Play Store, search for the Android Auto app and tap the Update button. If this option does not appear, then download the APK of the latest version of Android Auto and install it on your mobile.
Let’s not forget that in early July Android Auto had another problem that caused the icons to become huge.
