Samsung limits the performance of 10,000 apps, why?

Something is causing a stir in the world of technology and it is that Samsung limits the performance of 10,000 apps , but why do they do it? Apparently, the South Korean manufacturer is taking this measure in order to ensure better performance of their mobile batteries, for which they would be using the Game Optimization Service tool or the Game Optimization Service.

The scandal began with a post published by Twitter user GaryoenHan, who shows a list of 10,000 apps collected by Korean users who have been commenting on the company’s community in their native South Korea.

However, the company assures that it is more a problem that the platform is generating than a deliberate action. It seems that Samsung is conducting an internal investigation and approaching the problem with the same seriousness as it did before the great failure presented by the Galaxy Note 7.

The list of apps limited by Samsung

It seems that the app list problem is not just limited to games, but also includes very popular apps like Instagram, Facebook, Microsoft’s Office apps, Netflix, Google Keep, and TikTok. The performance limitations would even affect Samsung’s own apps such as Secure Folder, Samsung Cloud, Samsung Pay, Samsung Pass and the dialer.

3DMark, Antutu, PCMark, GFXBench and GeekBench 5 are not included in the list of apps ; which suggests that Samsung has not incorporated them, so that the performance measurements made by these applications are not affected.

This movement dismantles the fact that it is a mistake. Samsung could be committing an unethical practice that cannot be dismantled by seeing that the measurement apps are not included in the list of affected titles. This could guarantee that they make a performance reading that does not correspond to the reality of the use that anyone can have and finally, it is a not very honest practice.

What’s happening with Samsung is a case very similar to the OnePlus app throttling of 2021 . The manufacturer was found optimizing popular apps on the OnePlus 9 Pro and clearly affecting performance, but benchmark apps were also left off the list so it wouldn’t affect performance readings.
