The June update for the Samsung Galaxy S22 improves the camera

The upcoming June 2022 update will improve the camera of the Samsung Galaxy S22 , with optimizations in many different photographic ones. Software is key to today’s smartphone cameras, so changes to its techniques and algorithms can make a big difference.

In our review of the Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra we already highlighted the quality of the cameras, and now they are going to improve, just like the standard Galaxy S22 and the Galaxy S22+. In South Korea they have received the AVF1 version of the mobile firmware , so we already know what to expect when it is released in the rest of the markets.

The update improves and fixes various system aspects of the Galaxy S22, but there is no mention of the camera in the changelog, which is surprising. However, the person in charge of the Galaxy Camera app has reported the optimizations that his team has made through the official Samsung forums.

Here are the camera improvements we’ll be enjoying in the coming weeks:

  1. General improvement in contrast and sharpness of photos.
  2. Fixed crashes when using the camera.
  3. Less memory consumption when recording video.
  4. Portrait mode (or bokeh) optimized.
  5. The AWB algorithm better matches white tones when detecting puppies.

The update weighs in at around 1.7GB , a size that might vary slightly to suit other countries, but not too much.

Although the update corresponds to June 2022, it could arrive later to some Samsung Galaxy S22 units. After finalizing the software, the company must adapt it to different countries and even some operators, which delays its arrival to end users.

The smartphone itself will notify us when it is available, and we will be able to download it, which due to its size is better done through a WiFi network.

The photography of current mobiles improves a lot thanks to algorithms and artificial intelligence, so we will have to see what the Galaxy S22 holds for us. Of course, rumors have already emerged about the 200 MP camera of the Samsung Galaxy S23 that raise expectations about its sensors.
