As you probably already know, starting with Snapdragon 8 Gen 1, Qualcomm changed the nomenclature of its processors to make it easier to understand. However, there is something that remains: those with the “7” on the front are mid-range . And that has just been confirmed now that Qualcomm has made its first processor in this range official under the new nomenclature.
Since the beginning of last month we have known about the first smartphone with Qualcomm Snapdragon 7 Gen 1, but until now we did not know exactly what this SoC was going to be like. Well, we already have the full SD 7 Gen 1 datasheet with us, so let’s take a look at it.

The best processor for your next mobile?
The Snapdragon 7 Gen 1 is made using Samsung’s 4nm process. As expected, its CPU is made up of eight cores: four Cortex-A710 and four Cortex-A510 . The last four consume less energy, but are less powerful, so they take care of basic tasks, while the first four take care of maximum performance tasks. One of the Cortex-A710 cores runs at 2.4 GHz, which is the maximum clock speed of this chip.
The integrated graphics that it includes is an Adreno 662 that offers 20% more performance than its predecessor. On the other hand, it has the new Snapdragon X62 modem that allows you to enjoy 5G with a download speed of up to 4.4 Gbps . It also supports tri-band WiFi 6E and Bluetooth 5.3 with support for adaptive lossless audio.
The phones that will use the Snapdragon 7 Gen 1 may have up to 16 GB of RAM in LPDDR5 format, a Full HD + screen at 144 Hz and a single 200 MP camera. In addition, they will be able to record videos in 4K at 30 FPS (with HDR10 +, HDR10 and HLG) and make slow motion videos at 480 FPS with HD resolution.
The Snapdragon 7 Gen 1 comes with Android Ready SE and a Trusted Management Engine that promises optimal security for digital keys and wallets . The processor supports current navigation satellites such as GPS, GLONASS, BeiDou, Galileo, NavIC, and dual-frequency GNSS.
Which phones will use the Qualcomm Snapdragon 7 Gen 1?
Qualcomm confirmed that Xiaomi, OPPO, and Honor will launch smartphones powered by the Snapdragon 7 Gen 1 during the second half of 2022. The OPPO Reno8 Pro is expected to be the first phone with the said SoC, which will be presented possibly on May 23.
