Niantic, the developer of Pokémon GO, is widely known for this and other games based on augmented reality (AR) : Harry Potter: Wizard Unite, Peridot, NBA All World, and even a video game based on the successful board game Catan.
The company is an expert in this type of technology, to the point that they are already developing their own metaverse while expanding to new horizons. And speaking of universes and stuff, Niantic has just announced that it is working on a game based on Marvel comics and characters. It’s called Marvel World of Heroes and we already know its first details.
Augmented Reality Comes to the Marvel Multiverse with Niantic’s World of Heroes
Through its official website and social networks, Niantic reported that it is working on an AR video game based on the Marvel universe . The announcement was accompanied by the video that you see just above these lines, we know that it will be called Marvel World of Heroes and that it will be available in 2023 .
There are no internal images of the game in the video, so we will have to wait a few weeks to know more details. However, it will be a game where you will have to go for a walk on the streets of your neighborhood while going through the game map (based on real maps).
You will hardly go out to capture Marvel heroes like in Pokémon GO or HP: Wizards Unite, but you will surely have to get weapons, items and iconic powers of these characters. In addition, you will have to improve your skills, either by training or paying in the store to get some things.
How is it that we are so sure? Because along the way you will surely face both Marvel heroes and villains who will challenge you to a duel as well as other users of the game. Will there be gyms like in Pokémon GO? Not capable, but places where you will have to get the crown to gain control of the area.
Niantic games tend to be very successful, but they also tend to maintain the same dynamics between them. Therefore, it is not difficult to assume that Marvel World of Heroes will adopt many of the mechanics of other games from the company .
