Netflix raises the price again, will you be next?

There is little doubt that Netflix will raise its price in 2022 for everyone, and two countries have confirmed the increase: new users in the UK and Ireland will pay more from today, and current customers will see the new fee after 30 days.

After the rise of Netflix in the United States at the beginning of 2022, it was clear that the rest of the countries would also update the monthly fee. In addition, even the Basic Plan, the cheapest of all, increases this time, when in the past it was spared from previous increases.

The new cost in the United Kingdom does not tell us much in Spain or in the rest of the euro zone, but the price in Ireland will probably apply in most of Europe in the coming weeks or months, so we can get an idea .

The new prices in Ireland are as follows:

  1. Basic Plan: €8.99 (€1 increase).
  2. Standard Plan: €12.99 (€2 increase).
  3. Premium Plan: €20.99 (€3 increase).

For the UK, the increases are to £6.99 on the Basic Plan (£1 more), £10.99 on the Standard Plan (£1 more) and £15.99 (£2 more).

The Basic Plan offers 1 display at a time and SD (low resolution) quality, the Standard Plan allows 2 simultaneous displays with FHD high resolution and the Premium Plan supports up to 4 displays with 4K quality.

There are options to get Netflix cheaper, but those who opt for the standard rates will have to pay these new figures throughout 2022.

Recently, Netflix has opened up to a cheaper rate with advertising, as an option that it will value in the future. Unfortunately, it has no concrete plans or dates, so we don’t know if it will really come true or if it will come to nothing.

Netflix needs to increase its income to create more series, movies and its own programs , as it gets less and less content from third parties. In addition, the company believes that the low prices of Disney + and HBO Max mean losses to their owners, something that Netflix would not be willing to assume on its platform.

We must be aware that Netflix will increase in price in almost the entire world in 2022 , including Spain and Latin America. Except for some emerging markets where the company makes things easier for new users, its current policy is to increase revenue.
