TikTok will allow all users to upload videos of up to 10 minutes

When TikTok appeared, the videos that we could upload were only 15 seconds long. This time gradually increased until it reached the current 3 minutes, but some users enjoyed up to 10 minutes, well, now everyone can upload videos on TikTok up to 10 minutes long .

TikTok has been testing the functionality that allows some users to upload videos of up to 10 minutes in length for a few months. From now on all users will be able to do it and with this TikTok will look more and more like YouTube , but with vertical videos.

Longer videos equal more hours on TikTok

Currently, an average user spends approximately almost an hour on TikTok a day , yes, we recognize that the short vertical video app is really addictive. This addiction is partly due to the duration of the videos, since we can upload a 3-minute video at most.

Now all users will be able to upload videos of up to 10 minutes , something that may cause fewer videos to be seen in the application. TikTok’s strategy is that if a user can upload a longer video, the rest will spend more time watching the app, but the charm of TikTok is short videos.

From our point of view, although for TikTok it is a strategy to upload longer videos, such as recipes or tutorials without having to add the “part 2” tag or the like, we must say that probably few users upload videos as long or are watching a 10-minute video in the app.

TikTok is one of YouTube’s biggest rivals . The app has features that YouTube doesn’t have, such as special effects, music libraries, AR tools, and other features like its great editor that will make many users choose to use this app, even if you have to create vertical videos.

Despite this, YouTube is not the only rival of TikTok, the arrival of Reels on Instagram in 2020 made many users choose to use them or, for example, the recent incorporation of Reels on Facebook for everyone makes TikTok search measures to attract more public (although it already has a large market share).

The implementation of 10-minute videos on TikTok for everyone will arrive in a phased manner over the next few weeks. Users will receive a notification letting them know they can upload videos of that length, as long as they have the app on its latest version.
