Facebook Pay says goodbye to give way to Meta Pay, but… does it offer something new?

Meta Pay la billetera digital que reemplaza a Facebook Pay

It’s been months since Facebook changed its name to Meta as part of its strategy to give the brand a facelift after the Facebook Files scandal. In addition, with this Mark Zuckerberg’s company made clear its commitment to the so-called future of digital platforms: the metaverse.

Well, everything seems to indicate that soon there will be nothing left of one of the most popular names that the Internet world has given us. Why? Well, because Facebook Pay has been renamed Meta Pay, the new Menlo Park digital wallet that comes with a new name and little else.

Meta Pay: the Facebook Pay that we already knew, but with another name

Meta Pay el Facebook Pay que ya conociamos pero con otro nombre

As confirmed by Meta through its official blog , the digital wallet known until now as Facebook Pay is now called Meta Pay. However, everything seems to indicate that it is just a name change and little else. Meta Pay arrives with exactly the same functions already known from Facebook Pay . Unfortunately, no new features have been announced for the Menlo Park-owned payment platform.

With Meta Pay you can make purchases on the Internet or send money to individuals within Instagram, Facebook or WhatsApp, just as it was done with Facebook Pay. At the moment, this payment service is only available in a very limited number of countries ( India, Brazil and the United States ).

It was rumored that, with the announcement of the new Meta digital wallet, the brand would expand the availability of said platform to other countries , although this has not finally happened. We will have to wait to see if after this name change Meta increases the number of countries in which the renamed Meta Pay works.

And you… Would you like to make purchases with Meta’s digital wallet?
