Officially Android 13 is here . The new version of Google’s mobile operating system was announced at the annual Google I/O developer conference. During the event several announcements were made about security, improvements in photography, but also the new version of the operating system arrived.
Among the main novelties is the incorporation of the new Google Wallet , there you can store your credit cards, in addition to the COVID-19 vaccine passport and some identification cards.
new emergency system
Android 13 now joins WearOS with a new function that will add an accident or fall detector , to notify someone (via Wi-Fi or 4G, if the watch has that option) and ask for help; it’s similar to what Apple Watch offered a few years ago.
Google Pay also has a new version, to make payments and user identification (you can incorporate IDs and more)
Request for a new permit
In Android 13 you will receive a new permission request for you to authorize a newly installed app to send you notifications.
The permissions were already being done with Android 12, in that version they were revoking the permissions of apps that had not been used for a long time, but now it has evolved.
A different language for each app
With the new Android 13 you can choose a language for the system and you can also set a different language for many applications.
The app will have to enable this option, but now Android will give all developers the ability to let you choose.
New media cards
Something we didn’t have with Android 12 is a lot of customization in media control . But Android 13 took a step to improve this and Google decided to include a larger design, as well as include a photo of the song that is playing instead of a solid color.
You will notice that this new format of the media control looks more like the rest of the notification panel and is much prettier, really.
Improvements in Material You Theming
Another of the novelties of Android 13 is in the design and the notification panel has changed , albeit a little.
Now, the power and settings buttons that were normally below the tiles, have now been moved to the bottom of the screen . There are also new animations that make the use more fluid.
In addition, we see how new variants in colors are added and the customization compatibility goes even further than simply changing the icons of Google apps.
new split screen
Android 13 also adds a new split screen feature. Now, instead of activating split screen from the recents menu, you can simply long press notifications and drag them down to access split view.
This feature supports new animations, so everything will be much easier to use.
