Are you thinking of buying a high-end tablet ? Apple is the queen when it comes to this type of device, but we must not forget the most important Android brands . Xiaomi is preparing a new tablet model that goes straight for the iPad Pro 2022 . Specifically for the large 12.9-inch version. The main feature of this new Xiaomi tablet would be the screen, the design and the power. If everything goes as expected, it could attend to the name of Xiaomi Pad 6 Pro.
And not only will it compete with Apple’s iPad Pro , but also with Samsung’s bet, the Galaxy Tab S8 Ultra. The market for tablets is still scarce compared to mobiles, but not enough to rule it out completely. Xiaomi wants its piece of cake.
The Xiaomi Pad 6 Ultra would make the leap to 14 inches
The leaks make it clear: the most advanced model of the next generation of Xiaomi will make the leap to 14 inches . The design will remain with respect to the Pad 5 Pro, which copied almost everything from the iPad with reduced frames and flat metal frames.
With these screen figures, it would be halfway between the 12.9-inch iPad Pro and the 14.6-inch Galaxy Tab S8. Of course, it is possible that it surpasses both panels in one detail: it would arrive with 144 Hz instead of the 120 Hz of the Apple and Samsung models.
High-end performance, but Android
The leaks also tell us that this Xiaomi Pad 6 Ultra will arrive with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 Plus . This is good news, as it is one of the most powerful chips on the market today. It is the same that includes the Samsung model, but not the Apple one.
Xiaomi’s option could compete in all sections except performance. The iPad Pro 2022 mounts an Apple M2 processor that destroys any current Qualcomm chip in numbers.
That is, it will be very powerful, but it will not be able to compete with the power figures of the iPad. The good news is that the performance of the Apple M2 is aimed at a few very demanding users. The vast majority of tablet buyers probably require much less on a day-to-day basis.
In the price there will also be drastic differences
The current price of the 12.9-inch iPad Pro 2022 is 1,449 euros, a price that only a few in the world will pay for a tablet. The Xiaomi Pad 6 Ultra will have differences in performance, but also in price.
The current Pad 5 Pro costs around 400 euros/dollars on AliExpress. It is possible that the new 14-inch model will increase the price, but we will hardly see it approaching 1,000 euros / dollars.
A price of about 500-600 euros / dollars would leave it as the cheapest high-end Android tablet . Now all that remains is to wait for Xiaomi to present it, something that will probably happen before the end of 2022.
