Comparison: this is how Pepephone's landline phone compares to other operators

After the presentation of the new fixed telephone service at Pepephone , we are going to learn about its conditions, advantages and make a comparison with the other fixed line services of other operators. Pepephone opts for a different technology than its competitors, so the differences in operation are also important.

Pepephone’s landline is thinking of bringing the landline number of another operator through portability , thus keeping the line. It does not provide new numbers, since mobile communications are already the norm in the new generations.

It focuses on those who have a landline “for life” and want to keep it with the advantages of Pepephone. Or even if we want to switch an elderly person to Pepephone so that they pay less, have a service that is very simple to use and forget about unpleasant surprises on the bill.

The price of the Fixed Telephone service, alone, is €12.90/month, or €3/month if it is part of a Fiber + Mobile package. In both cases the following features are included:

  1. Includes unlimited calls to national mobiles and landlines.
  2. Line fee, answering machine, forwarding and caller ID included.
  3. Compatible with telecare services (care for the elderly).
  4. Connection through voice box (mobile coverage).
  5. No registration fee or permanence.

As always, Pepephone offers a product with no small print or hidden costs . By having forwarding to other numbers, the answering machine and the caller ID included in the final price, we will not find unexpected charges as can happen with other operators.

Nor will we need to be aware of the visit of an installer, since we will receive all the elements by messaging, and putting them to work is very simple.

Fixed with the simplicity and versatility of mobile

Pepephone will provide us with a voice box on loan, to which we will connect our own conventional landline telephone (using the usual telephone jack plug). In the voice box there is a SIM card, associated with the fixed number that we have ported, which will now use mobile coverage.

Therefore, it is possible to move our landline anywhere , as long as it is within Spain. The voice box does not depend on the traditional copper line, it only needs mobile coverage and power supply.

In addition, the fixed number with Pepephone does not have limitations to move between provinces if we move or travel, unlike conventional landlines.

Fixed in Movistar, O2, Jazztel, Lowi and Simyo in front of Pepephone

Following its principles, Pepephone does not seek to imitate the offers of the classic operators , but rather to provide the services that we really need, at a fair price and putting customer satisfaction and good treatment above all else.

The Pepephone landline is cheaper and more versatile , as we can hire it individually (for example, for an elderly person) or together with the company’s other services. It costs €12.90/month, and together with Fibra+Móvil rates it costs just €3/month including unlimited calls to both national landlines and mobiles.

These are the fixed conditions in other operators:

  1. Movistar : from €30/month and with unlimited calls for €40/month.
  2. Jazztel : calls to a landline + 180 min to a mobile for €25.99/month or unlimited calls via VoIP in fiber and mobile packs.
  3. O2 : unlimited calls via fixed VoIP, only in fiber and mobile packs.
  4. Jazztel : unlimited calls via VoIP, only in fiber and mobile packs.
  5. Lowi : does not offer landline.
  6. Simyo : does not offer landline.

At O2 and Jazztel we can interpret that they give us the landline “free” when contracting fiber and mobile, although we can also see it from the opposite point of view: the companies do not give anything away, and that it is included by default is a way of charging for it even if it is not let’s use

Contrary to Pepephone, there is no possibility of contracting a fixed telephone without other associated products. This is so because the line is based on VoIP technology, which requires connecting the landline to the router to make calls through the Internet, something that does not allow the service to be easily moved either.

Jazztel has a landline service not associated with other products, which does not promote much. For a cost of €25.99/month, it gives us unlimited calls to landlines and 180 monthly minutes to mobiles.

Finally, Movistar has several landline options , either through VoIP or copper line. That yes, the prices are higher , both in the various packs with fiber, mobile and television, as well as in fixed-only rates.

The Movistar landline starts at €30/month for the line and calls to landlines on the weekend, in the rest of the hours we will pay per minute spoken. For €37/month we will have 300 minutes of calls to landlines and mobiles, which only become unlimited with the €40/month rate (although functions such as caller identification are charged separately).

Companies like Lowi and Simyo do not directly have landline service . Initially, Pepephone did not offer it either for the sake of simplicity, but it is always willing to listen to its customers’ ideas and apply them if they fit.

Some people don’t want to give up their old number when switching to a new operator, so Pepephone decided to launch this new service to meet their needs.

Concluding the comparison, we must point out that the Pepephone landline is a different concept from that of other operators. As it is based on mobile coverage, it is more flexible, it can be contracted individually for an adjusted €12.90/month and, together with Fiber + Mobile rates, it has a price of just 3 euros per month.
