Just a few days ago we learned the first details about the Snapdragon 7 Gen 1, the new Qualcomm chip for affordable high-end mobiles. Among the leaked data, a possible launch for May 2022 was mentioned and new news gives greater strength to this theory.
We are talking about the first smartphone with a Snapdragon 7 Gen 1 processor , which would be one of the OPPO Reno8 and will hit the market shortly. We already know several of its specifications, its design thanks to a couple of leaked renders and even a theory that could place it in the catalog of a sister brand (OnePlus).
The OPPO with Snapdragon 7 Gen 1 will be a beast
Thanks to a Weibo post from the famous leaker Digital Chat Station, today we know that OPPO intends to be the first manufacturer to launch a mobile with the Snapdragon 7 Gen 1. This chip comes to rival the MediaTek Dimensity 8100, current absolute king of the high-end affordable with Android.
The device in question would be one of the OPPO Reno8 (whose model is PGAM10), a mobile that will include a beastly hardware configuration. Why do we say it? Because the leaked features tell us about a phone that could eat up the market if it arrives at an attractive price:
- 6.55” OLED screen with Full HD+ resolution (2400 x 1080 pixels) and 120 Hz refresh rate.
- Qualcomm Snapdragon 7 Gen 1 processor with Adreno 668 graphics.

As you can see, OPPO would not be playing with its new mobile, since we are talking about: greater democratization of 120 Hz OLED screens; a powerhouse that should top 800,000 points on AnTuTu if it wants to beat the Dimensity 8100; the use of a photographic sensor used by heavyweights such as the Xiaomi 12, Realme GT 2, OPPO Find X5 or the ViVo X70 Pro; and a very powerful fast charging system.

Along with the above specifications, a few days ago the first renders of the future OPPO Reno8 with Snapdragon 7 Gen 1 were also leaked. To everyone’s surprise, its design is very similar to that of the OnePlus 10 Pro , to the point that it is difficult to differentiate them at a glance. fast.
They share a practically identical back , with a camera module that only differs in two aspects: the Reno8’s is slightly larger at the bottom and does not have the “Hasselblad” engraved. A similar situation happens with the front, although the OPPO has a screen without curved sides and slightly more pronounced frames.
The fact of being inspired by / copying the design of the OnePlus 10 Pro is not crazy, since the symbiosis between OPPO and OnePlus is more evident every day. But this reopens a debate that we all considered closed at this point: could this be the OnePlus 10? We would not be surprised, since BBK Electronics would only have to make a name , add the OnePlus logo, include OxygenOS and bring it to market. It may not come true, but this would not be the first time it happens, nor the last.
OPPO Reno8 or Reno8 Pro? What will be the definitive name of the first mobile with Snapdragon 7 Gen 1
Finally, we must say that the choice of the Reno family as the person in charge of this mobile seems to us totally correct on the part of OPPO. It is the second most powerful series of the house (only behind the Find) and is characterized by offering a good balance between price and performance. Besides, the Reno6 Pro and Reno7 Pro incorporate chips that took the place that the SD7G1 will soon take (Snapdragon 870 and Dimensity 1200).
However, this leads us to a small problem: most of the leaks suggest that this new mobile would be the OPPO Reno8 . This could be so, but it would leave very little room for improvement for a possible Reno8 Pro without overlapping with the OPPO Find X5. In addition, generally the “standard” Reno do not carry such powerful processors, but leave that work to the Pro and Pro + models.
