The CEO confirms it: Instagram already supports NFT officially
It was only a matter of time before NFTs hit this social network . In fact, there was already a third-party service that allowed you to convert Instagram posts to NFTs. Even Mark Zuckerberg himself had anticipated a few months ago that non-fungible tokens would be part of the platform. Well, it has finally happened.
Instagram CEO Adam Mosseri has posted a short video on his Twitter account confirming that the platform now offers official support for NFTs . These will be called “Digital Collectibles” and will be presented as a publication in which clicking on it will display a label with all the details of the NFT, such as its name, price and owner.

This week we’re beginning to test digital collectibles with a handful of US creators and collectors who will be able to share NFTs on Instagram. There will be no fees associated with posting or sharing a digital collectible on IG.

Now, although everyone can now see the NFTs that are uploaded to Instagram, at the moment they can only be published by a small group of American users . This is because a small testing phase will first take place in which the social network hopes to learn about user interaction with the published non-fungible tokens.
Likewise, it was revealed that the support offered by Instagram for NFT posting is compatible with those minted on Ethereum and Polygon . It is expected that this compatibility with other widely used blockchains for the creation of these tokens, such as Solana and Flow, will soon be extended.
