We already know the first details of the Apple Watch SE 2022 or SE 2 , the manufacturer’s budget smartwatch. Last year it surprised by launching a cheaper version of the watch, and throughout 2022 it will receive a renewal.
In the first place, the Apple S7 processor would be used, that is, the chip of the current Apple Watch Series 7. The leaks suggest that perhaps this would make it possible to support fast charging, although the autonomy would be the same.
The great novelty would be the always-on-display screen , capable of showing the time at all times thanks to a low-power mode. In addition, the heart rate monitor would be capable of performing electrocardiograms (ECG) to better reflect the health of the heart.
Also, the built-in speaker would be improved , and some other improvements may have been applied. Especially on the software side, since no data has been leaked from the operating system update.
Of course, some functions will be reserved for the new Apple Watch Series 8. For example, the economic model will use a somewhat smaller screen, it will not have an SpO2 blood oxygen sensor and the speakers will be simpler.
In addition, the current design will be maintained , with aluminum finishes and models to choose between 40 mm or 44 mm. There are rumors about the main version that it could jump to new flat sides, something still unconfirmed.
The bad news is that the Apple Watch SE 2022 would go up in price to $299 , compared to $279 for the previous model. It would still be $100 cheaper than the Watch Series 8, so that would be interesting.
Unlike the iPhone SE 3, which integrates very old hardware, the Apple Watch SE 2022 is not far behind the company’s flagship watch.
Although there are no set dates for now, it is likely that we will see the new smartwatches in the second half of 2022 , close to the launch of the iPhone 14 and the Christmas gifts.
