The short video format is here to stay. Since TikTok popularized this type of content , the rest of the social networks were forced to launch functions that copy this format to try to compete with it, such as Instagram and Facebook Reels.
Well, YouTube was another platform that launched its own short video feature . However, until now the YouTube Shorts could only be seen from the mobile or computer, although this is about to change. That’s right, the platform has just announced on its blog that the Shorts are already coming to the YouTube app for TV.
YouTube Shorts is now available for TVs
There is no doubt that the vertical video format can be quite inconvenient for the horizontal screens of modern Smart TVs. This is one of the reasons why the arrival of YouTube Shorts on TV had been delayed. Now, the developers of the app have worked to try to adapt this format as best as possible and boy have they succeeded.
As you can see in the video above, the YouTube Shorts are played centered on the TV screen and in the background there will be a gradient with the most prevalent color of the videos. Also, to the right of the clips is the title of the Short, the audio used in the video and its creator.
Another interesting thing is that the YouTube Shorts do not automatically play on TV . This means that to see the next short video you have to use the Smart TV remote and press the up or down buttons with which you can scroll between the available Shorts.
Finally, it should be mentioned that from YouTube they assured that this function will begin to arrive in their app for Smart TV in the coming weeks , although they did not reveal the exact date on which the update will be available.
