PCR tests, antigens, vaccines… These are words that are the order of the day, especially when you are thinking of taking a vacation and organizing a trip. Due to health restrictions, several requirements are necessary to be able to travel from one country to another, even to another Autonomous Community. We are going to explain how to apply for the COVID certificate for Europe .
It is an accreditation that you can request from now on and that will serve you for your next vacation, whether it is for the summer or while the pandemic is still present. You have to follow some guidelines and steps to complete the process and get this certificate, which we are going to show you below.
What is the COVID EU certificate and what is it for?
It is a certificate that is only signed by the Ministry of Health . It shows all the data corresponding to the virus individually, that is, if you have passed the virus, when or if you are vaccinated, as well as the number of doses and the brand of the vaccine.
Within the digital COVID certificate, there are three other certificates that collect all this information . They are independent, so you can request all of them or one in particular, although it is recommended to have all three certificates whenever possible.
In short, both the vaccination certificate, the negative test certificate or the recovery certificate include a QR code for quick reading by public bodies or authorities that request it.
How can you request the digital COVID certificate (even if your Autonomous Community does not have it)
Naturally, the Ministry of Health is also in charge of requesting and issuing this certificate, as well as validating it. It has enabled a dedicated form solely for this purpose, within its official website .
To access this specific section, you can use both your computer and your mobile device. In the tutorial we have used the smartphone, since it is possible to do it comfortably from there. Next, you must go to the section ‘ Access directly to the request for the EU digital COVID certificate ‘ from the same official website.
Next, you have to identify yourself in some way to request said certificate. For this, the three modes that already exist for other similar online procedures are available: either the digital certificate, or by means of a permanent Key, or with the Autosignature program .
Use the one that is easiest for you to identify yourself. Once you have done it, you can choose any of the certificates that we have mentioned previously, or all of them together. The Ministry will send you a PDF with the requested certificates , in addition to a paper certificate that you can also request at your address.
However, to carry out these steps you must meet two requirements: have passed the virus with a PCR test that proves it , or be vaccinated in Spain . If you do not meet any of these conditions, you will not be able to request it yet.
In case you meet them and can do the process, there is a way to find out the certificate you need, depending on the case you have. If you return to the initial screen of the form, you will see a blue button called ‘Get Started’. Clicking there, a form with several questions will appear.
It will ask you if you have had COVID in the last 180 days, if you have been vaccinated or if you have a negative test . Depending on what you answer, you can request one certificate or another. In addition, by filling in the vaccination center to which you belong, it sends you directly to the website for your region so that you can request it from there.
Request the digital COVID certificate from your Autonomous Community
This previous process is the one you must follow if your Autonomous Community does not have this system , since not all regions have it available yet. There are several in Spain that have not been enabled in their systems, but it is something that will be progressively resolved.
If it is already available in your region, you do not have to access the website of the Ministry of Health. The autonomous communities that have this certificate activated in their systems, allow management from their health applications .
This is the list of each Autonomous Community with its corresponding Android app to request the COVID certificate:
- Andalucía : Download the Salud Andalucía app to request the certificate.
- Aragón : Download the Salud Informa app to request the certificate.
- Balearic Islands : At the moment, it does not have a mobile application, but you can request it from its website by accessing it with your Password or digital certificate.
- Canary Islands : Download the Mi Historia app to request the certificate.
- Castilla La Mancha : Download the SESCAM app to request the certificate.
- Cantabria : Download the SCSalud app to request the certificate.
- Castilla y León : Download the SACYL CONECTA app to request the certificate.
- Ceuta: Nor does it have an app as such, but it does have a web address called ‘ My Folder ‘ intended to obtain the digital COVID certificate.
- Catalonia: Download the La Meva Salut app to request the certificate.
- Valencian Community : Download the GVA +Salut app to request the certificate.
- Extremadura: Download the CSOnline Extremadura app to request the certificate.
- Galicia: Download the Pass COVID.gal app to request the certificate.
- La Rioja : Download the Rioja Salud app to request the certificate.
- Madrid: Download the Health Card app to request the certificate.
- Murcia: Like Ceuta, it does not have an application but it does have a specific website, through its electronic headquarters .
- Navarra: Download the Personal Health Folder app to request the certificate.
- Basque Country : Download the Health Folder app – Osakidetza to request the certificate.
These are all the regions that have a dedicated space for obtaining the European Digital COVID certificate, either by downloading an application for your Android on Google Play or through a specific website. To access these platforms, you will have to provide your permanent password or your health card number .
Asturias and Melilla are missing from the list, where it can only be requested using the generic method that we have explained to you previously. As you have already verified, it is totally valid even if your region does not have it yet, but it is possible that both will enable it soon.
