Apple TV has stopped the purchase and rental of content on its platform for users of Android TV devices . This is very bad news for all those owners of these devices, as they will have to make purchases using other methods.
Currently, there are many streaming platforms that allow us to access a lot of content, some of them are paid, such as Netflix, Prime Video or Apple TV, which we will talk about below.
If you are a user of any device with Android TV and also have an Apple TV subscription, we have bad news, you will no longer be able to rent or buy Apple TV content from these devices . Users will have to purchase these products from other sources.
Apple TV blocks purchases on Android TV devices
The Apple TV+ app is on many devices and platforms , one of them is Android TV and this Android operating system is on hundreds of devices. Thanks to this, the users of these devices, such as televisions or decoders, can see the contents of the Apple TV platform on them.
Much of the content on Apple TV is paid or rented and until now, the process of buying or renting any of the content could be done through the device with Android TV, but it is no longer possible. In-app purchases are disabled for many users and devices.
Now, instead of making purchases on said device, a button called “How to see” has been enabled in which a message appears informing the user that said product can be purchased from an iPhone, iPad and other streaming devices from the Apple TV app.
At the moment there is no official reason for this change , because perhaps it is some test that those from Cupertino are carrying out. Perhaps one of those reasons is the incessant battle for commissions on content purchases.
Despite this, there are some platforms where the Apple TV+ app is available that do not have these restrictions, all of which include LG, Samsung or Roku TVs. We can only wait if the blocking of Apple TV purchases on Android TV is still in place or Apple will return to the system before.
