After WhatsApp Web, the UWP version of WhatsApp will add access to emojis

We already have access or shortcuts for emojis in WhatsApp UWP , the version of the native application for Windows 10 and 11. A small improvement that will make its use more comfortable, and that makes it clear that WhatsApp UWP will be the default app for PC in not much time.

We have introduced the new design of WhatsApp for Windows, which is better adapted to the style of the operating system. It is a modern Universal Windows Platform (UWP) application, which is downloaded from the Microsoft Store, compared to the standard version, which is a classic program based on Win32, and is limited to imitating the appearance of WhatsApp Web.

At the moment WhatsApp UWP is in testing (beta), but it is getting closer to the stable version of PC. New emoji shortcuts allow you to use a colon (:) to bring up emoji suggestions , depending on what you type next.

For example, if we type “:cora” in the text box, emojis with a heart will appear in a floating upper access window:

The emoji accesses or shortcuts will allow us to write faster in WhatsApp from a computer , although we must remember that there is also a shortcut to put emojis in Windows 10 and 11 that is just as fast, with the advantage that it works in any program.

Emoji shortcuts have been available for a long time in the classic version of WhatsApp and also in WhatsApp Web for browsers. Now those who opt for the UWP variant also have these accesses, getting closer and closer in functions to the original ones.

If we are interested, we can download WhatsApp Beta on our PC, making sure to choose the UWP version of the Microsoft Store. It’s available for free to everyone, and it’s getting more and more features, so it shouldn’t take long to become the default option in Windows 10 and 11.

In general, the emoji shortcuts in WhatsApp UWP were necessary , not everyone knows them, but those who have become accustomed to using the shortcuts undoubtedly missed them.
