YouTube TV launches picture-in-picture (PiP) on iOS for everyone

YouTube TV picture-in-picture mode is available in iOS 15 for everyone . A feature that had been in testing is finally coming to all users with an iPhone or iPad running the latest version of Apple’s operating system. It will roll out to devices progressively, a few days from now.

As with other PiP-enabled apps on iOS, the feature will allow users to maintain a floating video window of YouTube TV content. The goal is for the floating screen to remain anchored to the main screen, while you switch to another app or perform some other task, without stopping the video from playing.

The truth is that the YouTube TV picture-in-picture feature in iOS 15 has been a long time coming . Of course, we will only have it on YouTube TV, the streaming television service that serves as an alternative to cable television in the US.

The company caused confusion by initially reporting that the PiP was reaching the main YouTube app, but it was not correct. The main app is still in testing picture-in-picture mode , and will be exclusive to YouTube Premium subscribers.

This novelty of the Google video platform comes after Disney +, Netflix, Twitch and other services already offered PiP mode for a few months in iOS 15. The feature allows users to create playlists that they can have continuously on the mobile without the need to stay in the app and end up disabling the device in some way.

YouTube indicates that the functionality will gradually arrive , but if you do not receive it on your terminal with iOS 15 or higher, you can contact them to help you solve it, even, if you wish, you can send them a tweet.
