Twitch wants to pay streamers less

Twitch quiere pagar menos a los streamers

The world’s most popular streaming platform, Twitch, could potentially make some very big changes to how it pays its streamers.

The objective behind this change, which is actually several, would be to promote a more profitable long-term strategy . However, these media could negatively impact content creators , why? For the simple reason that it would reduce their percentages of income.

A wave of very important changes is coming to Twitch

Twitch cambios en los pagos

According to what the Bloomberg website has published, Twitch would drop the revenue sharing scheme it currently has for streamers . So far, content creators receive 70% of the money that users enter the platform through subscriptions (only for valuable streamers).

Twitch’s adjustment would no longer offer this division in favor of streamers. In short, I would match it at 50% for each part , so both Amazon and the content creators would receive half of that income.

It should be added that this measure would also affect level 2 subscriptions , where the split is currently 60/40. In this way, all the scales would be equal in 50/50.

Does Twitch say “goodbye” to exclusivity?

Although this may all seem like bad news, there is a small change that would benefit content creators. Said change would be related to the exclusivity system managed by the platform .

In the event that these adjustments are applied in the future, streamers who live on Twitch will no longer be required to only generate content there . In this way, any content creator will be able to broadcast live on other platforms without suffering any kind of penalty.

At the moment, Twitch has not come out to confirm or deny this information . What is clear is that many streamers could leave the platform.
