In a short time it will be possible to install third-party widgets in Windows 11 , a feature that the operating system lost years ago, and that has always generated division among users. Currently we already have widgets on iOS and Android, so Windows 11 does not want to leave out a feature that is becoming more and more popular.
Among the reasons to download Windows 11 are exclusive features such as widgets, but until now only Microsoft widgets could be downloaded , which greatly limited the catalog.
Now that the system is open to third parties, developers will be able to create widgets for their apps . The operation will be the same, and they will be displayed in a tab that opens on the left side of the desktop.
This format already existed in Windows Vista (2007) under the name “gadgets”, but in Windows 8 (2012) it was removed because they were not very popular. For years, only Android opted for traditional widgets, but they have been supported in iOS 14 for a year, so they are current again.
The FireCube Twitter account, known for leaking other Windows 11 news, has indicated that widgets can be uploaded to the Microsoft Store or included in traditional programs . By opting for the official store they gain the option to be recommended in the Store or in the widgets tab itself.

The leaked information is for these third-party developers, and suggests that Windows 11 widgets will consume little memory and processor , in addition to directly adapting the user interface, without it being an aspect that the creator should consider.
For now, we don’t know when the third-party widgets will arrive , but it may take advantage of the first big Windows 11 22H2 update expected in mid-2022.
