There will be two versions of the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 out (rumor)

Until now, almost all of Qualcomm’s flagship processors have had two versions. The most recent example is the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 and Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1. However, Qualcomm has never released the two versions at the same time. Normally, they release the first version and wait six months to release the second version with slight improvements . However, new rumors suggest that this will not be the case with the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 that will arrive in November.

According to a post by famous leaker Digital Chat Station on Weibo , Qualcomm will release two versions of the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 at the same time . They will have important differences between them, which we will tell you about below.

Here we summarize the leaked differences of the two versions of the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 which we will call “standard” and “plus” for now (the official names are not yet known):

  • Standard : Clock speed of 3.19 GHz.
  • Plus – Clock speed between 3.4 and 3.5 GHz and improved GPU.

Apparently, both chips will be manufactured using TSMC’s 4-nanometer process and will have Adreno 740 graphics that could be called “Adreno Gen 2”. According to previous rumors, its CPU will consist of one Cortex-X3 core, two Cortex-A715 cores, two Cortex-A710 cores, and three Cortex-A510 cores.

It is worth remembering that these chips are the ones that the Galaxy S23 will use, since Samsung apparently gave up on its Exynos processors and will start using only the Snapdragon in its high range. The iQOO 11 (the successor to the iQOO 10 Pro) is also expected to feature this new generation of Qualcomm processors.

When will the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 processor be released?

If everything goes as expected, the official presentation of the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 will take place in November. To be more precise, it will launch between November 15 and 17 at Qualcomm’s Snapdragon Summit 2022 conference . Keep in mind that the scheduled date of this event is already official, but the company has not confirmed that they will announce their new high-end SoC. However, if Qualcomm follows its own tradition, we will see the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 next November.

And you… what do you expect from the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2? More power? Better efficiency? Tell us.
