The next Android update will bring a battery health indicator

In the era of fast charging and in view of ultra-fast charging in just 1 second, the health of your mobile battery is very important . Apple has known about this for a long time, when it added a battery health checker to its iPhones a few years ago.

Currently, there is no such thing on Android, at least by default. Samsung and Xiaomi have their battery measurement apps. In addition, there are some third-party apps that help make up for this lack, but Google’s operating system does not have anything similar. However, this is about to change, because among the novelties of the next Android 13 update is that it will show you the health of your mobile’s battery .

Android will get a battery health meter, it’s about time

Thanks to a post on Twitter by Mishaal Rahman (filterer and tech expert), we know that the next Android update will have a functionality that will notify you of the battery status of your mobile .

The tweet shows a screenshot of this functionality. In it you can see an indicator that warns how the general health of your smartphone’s battery is, dividing it into 4 different levels. In addition, there is a message that quickly summarizes what each level of the indicator means and a couple of additional buttons.

The latter are: the “Capacity” one, which we imagine will show more detailed information about the real capacity of the battery compared to its initial value; and the “Condition” one, which probably shows other data about the health of the battery and the charging system of your mobile (temperature, charging power, etc.).

According to Rahman, the screenshot was taken from the most recent Android 13 beta, QPR1 . Having reached this level of development, it is very likely that it will soon reach your mobile and other Android devices on the market through an update.

It would not be a surprise, since it is not the first time that Google has released a minor Android update with new features. In fact, it recently added a ton of new features to all Androids in the early September update.

How long will it take to get this feature to Android 13? We don’t know exactly, but it shouldn’t be too long for it to happen.
