The first rollable mobile will arrive in 2023 but… which brand will launch it? Discover it here

Cuando se lanzara el primer móvil enrollable y de que marca sera

Mobile screens are constantly evolving . Now they not only run at 240 Hz and reach sizes up to 7 inches, but they can also fold up on themselves. Phones with folding panels are not only a reality, they are already a success in the market.

In 2021 Samsung could not meet the high demand for the Galaxy Z Fold 3 and Flip 3 and this year they plan to repeat that success with the new Galaxy Z Fold 4 and Z Flip 4. Don’t you think folding screens are a novelty anymore? Well don’t worry, something even more surprising will come in 2023 .

According to a recent report by DSCC, there is a Chinese manufacturer that is already working on a phone with a folding screen that could launch in 2023. Do you want to know what it is? Well find out below.

OPPO, Motorola or Xiaomi: the three competitors in the race for the first rollable mobile

Display Supply Chain Consultants (DSCC) is a display market consultancy that publishes reports on developments in this sector. Well, in their latest market analysis, they have revealed that the first mobile phone with a folding screen will be launched by a Chinese brand and will use a South Korean panel . This leaves Samsung, LG and Google out of the competition.

So… Who are the main candidates? Well, the most advanced of all seems to be OPPO. The Chinese brand presented the OPPO X in 2021 (which you can see in the video that we leave above), a mobile prototype with a dynamic roll-up screen that extends its panel from 6.7 inches to 7.4 inches. However, since then we have not had any new news about said terminal.

Another of the likely candidates for the first roll-up is Motorola. It’s been rumored for months now that the now Lenovo-owned brand is developing a vertical rollable model known as the Motorola Felix . It is a prototype similar to the RAZR that would leave behind the hinge of these folding cars to adopt a screen that would unfold upwards.

Finally, we cannot rule out Xiaomi in this race for the first rollable mobile in history . Although a new specific rumor has not yet emerged, it is enough to remember that in 2020 an alleged Mi Alpha R was leaked from which nothing was heard again. And tell us… What do you think will be the first brand to launch a roller?
