Samsung has just announced that it is teaming up with iFixit to change the way you repair your devices. Soon, users will have the possibility to repair their mobiles themselves, without having to send them, with original components and all the necessary tools. Samsung wants you to repair your own phone
Samsung has a device repair system in all markets where it sells smartphones. If the screen of your device breaks, you can talk to them to replace it for a fixed price, which is usually quite high. The same thing happens with batteries.
Now Samsung has teamed up with iFixit so that you can repair your mobile at home yourself . How? Both companies have created specific guides and a pack of components and tools for repair.
The idea is that you buy the repair kit from Samsung and have everything you need to do it, from screwdrivers to levers or official components . The kit will come with a series of specific guides created by iFixit.
Original components and cheaper repairs
This system will not only allow you to save some money on the repair , but it will ensure that you are replacing original parts. Many repair shops use compatible components when you change the screen or battery .
By saving shipping and labor, the total costs of the repair will be lower . In return you will have to work on the repair yourself and welcome the possibility that something goes wrong. Of course, Samsung is not responsible if you make any mistakes in the repair.
Only for some Samsung mobiles
At the moment this project will be available only for the Samsung Galaxy S20, Galaxy S21 or the Galaxy Tab S7. Not all of Samsung’s catalog will be able to order these kits to repair components.
It is possible that, if all goes well, the catalog of available components and mobiles will be expanded. Everything will start in the summer and only for the United States market.
