RealityScan, the amazing app for iPhone that generates 3D models with a photo

An app for iPhone has arrived that generates 3D models, it’s called RealityScan and it achieves truly realistic models. The app has the ability to turn smartphone photos into high-fidelity 3D models, but best of all, it’s free.

The application makes use of RealityCapture, a state-of-the-art photogrammetric software capable of reconstructing objects and scenes of any size from images or laser scans. One of the main advantages of this application, thanks to the software used, is that greater precision and mesh quality at much faster speeds.

How RealityScan works on your iPhone

The free RealityScan app allows anyone to obtain highly detailed digital models of real-world objects to incorporate into their virtual projects. The app guides users through the scanning experience with interactive feedback, augmented reality guidance, and data quality checks.

Once the scan is complete, RealityScan creates a realistic model almost instantly thanks to its lightning-fast photogrammetry software. Directly, from the application, once the model is finished, you can upload it directly to Sketchfab, which is the platform with which you can publish, share or sell the content.

Epic Games is the studio behind this application , from there they ensure that 3D scanning of the real world with AR technology is the future of virtual content creation. A great bet that they make for iOS in the first place, since the iPhones are devices that are already prepared to promote this technology.

RealityScan is currently available in a limited beta that will give access to 10,000 users, on a first-come, first-served basis, through TestFlight. Early access to the app will be in the spring for iOS, then it will be available for Android in late 2022.
