March 2022 security patch for Samsung fixes over 50 vulnerabilities

The March 2022 security patch for Samsung devices is now official, which fixes bugs and security vulnerabilities in the company’s Android phones and tablets. As always, it’s important to update to this latest version as soon as possible.

The patch fixes 2 critical bugs (codes CVE-2021-30317 and CVE-2021-39708) and 29 bugs rated as serious , also 19 bugs of moderate importance. They include both Android fixes from Google and Samsung’s own, applicable to the One UI customization layer it uses.

That also means there are 13 Google fixes that Samsung doesn’t apply , because the vulnerabilities don’t affect its models. Samsung is updating many devices to Android 12, with the One UI 4.1 layer, but the patch will also be released on older versions of the system.

The software update will be sent to Samsung mobiles and tablets according to the update policy of each model, however, the company has not specified the exact list. Most of them have 3 years of security updates after the initial release , although it depends on the range of the device and when it was released.

Of course, now Samsung is making a special effort on updates, the Galaxy S22/S21 ranges, together with the Galaxy Z Fold 3/Flip 3 and Galaxy Tab S8, are guaranteed 4 major Android updates, which includes security patches.

It is possible to check if we have pending updates in this menu:

Settings -> Software update -> Download and install

It is advisable to download via WiFi if we do not have an unlimited data rate, because the monthly patches can be quite large. After installation we have to restart the system and it will be protected.

In conclusion, it is important to download and install the March 2022 patch for Android released by Samsung , as it protects us from possible attacks. Given how sensitive the topic of cybersecurity is, it is crucial to do everything possible to keep ourselves safe.
