Is there a "drunk mode" in WhatsApp?

For a few days there has been talk of a supposed drunk mode for WhatsApp , a very specific functionality of the application that would have a very specific objective, so we are going to try to detail what is true in that and how it would affect users.

Supposedly, it would be an easily activated mode through which you could not use WhatsApp and other applications, which would be activated with an emergency button to prevent the user from using WhatsApp and other applications.

However, there is no such possibility, although you can find different free applications in the Google Play Store and the AppStore that allow you to block access to WhatsApp and all the applications that you want to block.

WhatsApp does not have a drunk mode

We must make something clear, there is no drunk mode in WhatsApp or anything like that. That is, there is no functionality within the application to activate a mode in which to block certain WhatsApp functions officially.

Another very different thing is that there is an independent application to WhatsApp that can offer an option to block access to this and other applications, in fact, there are some apps that you can install to avoid accessing WhatsApp and other apps.

Most of them are free and you can easily install and use them. If you don’t want to use apps, you can configure the lock using a fingerprint or Face ID in WhatsApp that, once activated, prevents another person from accessing the app, only you can access it.

If you choose to use apps, for Android there are some options that you can download:

  1. Download AppLock for Android

  1. Download AppLock – Lock apps & Password

In summary, the only options to block the use of WhatsApp are the following:

  1. By locking by fingerprint or Face ID.
  2. Lock apps like AppLock and the like.

It should be clear that WhatsApp has no plans to implement a drunk mode , or anything like that, the only possibility that exists to block the use of WhatsApp is to use applications such as AppLock or similar to not use WhatsApp, but nothing more, as we indicated before .
