More security for the little ones at home and it is that parental control reaches Instagram in the US . It is a new supervision tool that will allow parents and guardians to have a greater participation in the experience of their adolescent children in their participation in this social network.
It begins to be a tool available in the Family Center , a space that was built and developed in collaboration with experts, parents, guardians and adolescents. The Family Center allows parents to monitor their older children’s accounts within Meta’s platforms, as well as configure and use resources that allow them to understand how to communicate with their teens over the Internet.
Family Center, an educational space for parents and guardians
The new Family Center or Family Center includes a new educational center where parents and guardians can access expert resources , review articles, videos and get helpful tips on topics such as social media and teens. Parents can also watch video tutorials on how to use the new monitoring tools available on Instagram starting now.
For now, monitoring tools on Instagram are available today in the US, with plans to roll out globally in the coming months . This parental monitoring tool included in the Meta Family Center on Instagram will allow parents and guardians to:
- Know how much time your teens spend on Instagram and set time limits.
- Get notified when your teen reports an account.
- View and receive updates about the accounts your children follow and the accounts that follow them.
Additional features will be added in the coming months, such as allowing parents to set the hours during which their teens can use Instagram and the ability for more than one parent to monitor a teen’s account.
Teens will need to initiate and approve monitoring on their accounts ; for now, in the mobile application, but later the desktop version will also be incorporated, which will be available from June 2022.
