Instagram copies OnlyFans to include paid subscriptions: how they work

As of January 2022, Instagram was one of the few social networks and content platforms without the possibility of direct monetization . We speak in the past tense because this is no longer the case: payments have arrived on Instagram. The company has just announced a new exclusive content system that profiles can implement to generate income. It is something similar to what OnlyFans does with its exclusive content for paying users. Today we tell you how this new payment service for Instagram works .

From 1 to 99 euros to see direct and exclusive stories

Instagram has just activated the possibility of including paid subscriptions in several very popular content creators. The profile itself can choose how much to charge monthly for its content in a range that goes from 1 to 99 euros/dollars .

Users will be able to pay this amount of money to view the exclusive content for as long as they maintain the subscription . It is something very similar to what OnlyFans offers with its paid subscriptions: if you spend money you can see the content of the profile and when you stop paying you stop having access.

This exclusive Instagram content will be given in two scenarios: stories and direct . These will be the two ways by which users will be able to see exclusive content. It looks like photos from the standard feed don’t fit into this paid content pack.

A profile will be able to choose whether to upload the story they just recorded for everyone, for their best friends or for subscribers . Of course, if you do not pay the membership you will not be able to access. The same with the direct ones: the profile will be able to choose who has access.

only for a few

At the moment this new service is available only for a few very popular profiles. Instagram is testing the functionality and its support, as it is the first time it has done something like this. If all goes well it is possible that these monthly subscriptions will expand to the whole world and to many more profiles.

It is likely that Instagram requires a minimum number of followers to be able to enter this program and does not give all profiles the opportunity to enter. After all, it’s a feature for popular content creators. What do you think of this Instagram decision?
