The mobile market is starting to pivot towards foldable devices and no one wants to be left out of the party. At least since 2019 there have been rumors about a folding smartphone from Google and a few days ago some indications were seen thanks to Android 12L.
However, there is still nothing officially confirmed, but the rumors do continue. The last? Google’s folding phone could be cheaper than Samsung’s Galaxy Fold.
Google wants its foldable Pixel to be priced better than its rivals
As we mentioned above, the foldable party is just getting started. On the one hand, there is the OPPO Find N, on the other the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold and Z Flip 3, while beyond that there are the Huawei P50 Pocket and Honor Magic V.
According to many rumors, Google will also be part of this market soon and will do so in a somewhat competitive way. According to 9to5Google , Google’s foldable phone will be priced at less than $1,799 (about €1,577 at current exchange rates).
What is special about this figure if it is still quite high for a mobile? Which, if true, will position Google’s flexible smartphone below the price of the Galaxy Z Fold 3 , its main rival. Thus, Google would start with a little advantage, although there is still much to see about this terminal and not all that glitters is gold.
We say this last because the source also pointed out another fact: the Google Pixel Fold will not be for sale to everyone from day one . On the contrary, its distribution will start in the United States and then it will expand to other markets as the weeks go by. This is not something that should be surprising, as Google has maintained this distribution model for quite some time. However, it may be something that affects your success initially.

Turning a bit to the subject of the specifications, release dates and others of Google’s folding mobile, we must say that it is a rather opaque subject. Even so, there are some rumors about it that we will leave below:
- No one knows what it will be called . The names that are currently handled are: Pixel Fold, Pixel Notepad and Pixel Logbook.
- It could have a form factor similar to that of the OPPO Find N , so it would point to a more square than rectangular format. This would differentiate it from the Galaxy Z Fold 3.
- The release date is unknown, but rumors suggest that it will go on sale in the second half of 2022 .
- All existing images on this mobile are created by the community, there are no official or filtered photos yet.
- No word on the hardware , not even if it will use a new self-made Tensor chip or a Snapdragon from Qualcomm.
