Until recently, it seemed that Android tablets were of no interest to Google. But now that the big manufacturers are betting big on this market, the big G is determined to take the Android experience on tablets to the next level . After 10 years without adapting a version of Android to tablets, this year they will launch Android 12L and they announced that they are working on the next big leap for Android tablets.
The company last year founded a new initiative called “Android Tablets” for this, of which one of the co-founders of Android is a part . Now, a job posting has appeared from Google for the position “senior engineering director with experience in Android tablet applications” where they talk in general about the future of Android for tablets.
Google believes Android tablets are the future
In the job posting, Google says they’re working on the “next chapter of computing” that will meet the ever-increasing demand for powerful and capable tablets. This new “Android for tablets” will have seamless compatibility with all Google platforms and experiences, offering new and better ways to be productive and creative.
Another offering notes that “Android Tablets” is a new division within Google that is working closely with Android tablet makers , as well as app developers, to devise ways to improve the experience on these devices.
One of the most illustrious members of Google’s “Android Tablets” division is Rich Miner (Android co-founder) who returns to work on the operating system that he helped give birth to after passing through Alphabet’s GV company and the educational project from Google in 2016. Since returning to the company (in March 2021), the team has released the Kids Space and Entertainment Space launchers for Android tablets.
And Google will not launch its own Android tablet? At the moment, there are no rumors about it. The company is only rumored to make a Chromebook with the Google Tensor chip in 2023. However, we wouldn’t be surprised if Google launches a Pixel tablet in the future if its new Android for tablets achieves a great reception from users.
