WhatsApp has not recently issued any official announcement about changes in the compatibility of its Android mobile application. However, it is important to note that, at the end of last year, WhatsApp did stop working on some devices. As of November 2021, WhatsApp is no longer compatible with mobile phones running Android 4.0 or earlier.
This means that, from that date, it is necessary for the phone to have Android 4.1 or a higher version to be able to use the famous messaging application. Did this measure affect many users? In theory, no.
Android version 4.0 was released in mid-2011, which means that WhatsApp stopped working on phones that are already more than 10 years old .
