DAZN: you will no longer be able to share an account

We received the bad news that DAZN will not allow account sharing , or at least will apply limits that will prevent two users from paying for the subscription in half and using it separately. The sports streaming platform is going to impose new restrictions, probably after the recent purchase of the rights to Spanish LaLiga

We recently learned that Movistar and DANZ will broadcast LaLiga until the 2027 season, and they will need to make the almost 5,000 million euros they have paid profitable. DAZN until now allowed to view content from two screens at the same time , and have up to 5 devices registered, clarifying that the accounts were “personal and non-transferable”.

That is, in theory we could only share a DAZN account with people who lived in the same house . In practice it did not apply, like other streaming platforms, since sharing Disney +, Netflix or HBO Max with family, friends or work colleagues is common to save on the share.

Veronica Diquattro, the head of DAZN in Spain, affirms that users “misuse” accounts by sharing them with third parties , even on platforms where you can search for people who pay part of the monthly price.

In fact, there are Octopus-style services to share Netflix, Spotify or Nintendo Switch Online, which always move to the edge of the conditions of use of the various subscriptions.

Currently DAZN costs only 9.99 euros per month in Spain, and it is likely that when it begins to broadcast LaLiga matches the price will increase. Therefore, DAZN does not want to contract between two people, who can view the content simultaneously.

It is not clear how it will limit the use of the accounts, it is possible that it will allow a single screen at a time, or that the two screens will be maintained with restrictions . For example, check using the IP address that both users connect from the same address.

It will be necessary to see how tough DAZN’s restrictions are to share accounts , but it is clear that after acquiring the rights of the Spanish First Division, it will require a much higher outlay to access.
