Confirmed! Twitter will add a button to edit tweets

Twitter permitira editar tweets

Historic change on Twitter! The social network announced that within a very short time it will allow its users to edit published tweets . Although this feature had been requested by millions of people over the past few years, Twitter managers had never considered adding it.

Now, and supposedly thanks to the fact that Elon Musk bought almost 10% of the company’s shares, Twitter confirmed from its official account that they will add a button so that users can edit their tweets simply and quickly.

First on Twitter Blue

In order to offer a stable and, above all, functional tool , Twitter has reported that the function that will allow you to edit tweets will only be available on Twitter Blue, the paid version of the social network.

Once the tests are finished, and the results are evaluated within that version of Twitter, the way in which this button will be applied in the “common” version of the social network will be decided.

Of course, at the moment they have not confirmed if all users will be able to edit tweets , or if only those people who are verified within the social network will be able to access this feature.

Was it all thanks to Elon Musk?

Despite the fact that Elon Musk had reported that he was thinking of creating his own social network, the decision he made to be able to impose his mark on the social world was different.

Buying nearly 10% of Twitter stock , the tech mogul capitalized on all the hype his acquisition caused, posting a poll asking his followers if they wanted Twitter to allow editing tweets.

The result of that survey was pretty clear: 70% of respondents said they wanted Twitter to add a button to edit already published tweets .

Although everything would seem to indicate that Elon Musk was the one who forced Twitter to think about adding this feature , from the social network they have said that no survey forced them to think about adding this feature.

Last but not least, the date on which this feature could be added is still unknown. The first tests are expected to start in the middle of this year (with a small group of users).
