Changes in Samsung with One UI 4.1: news, changes and devices

Samsung has revamped its customization layer from One UI 4.0 to One UI 4.1 . This change is due to the Samsung Galaxy S22 that was launched last week. The new interface brings interesting changes that all Samsung mobile users should know about. Of course, One UI 4.1 is based on Android 12 and it will probably reach much of the Samsung catalog with promises of updating to Android 12.

One UI 4.0 vs One UI 4.1: A minor but interesting update

The step from One UI 4.0 to 4.1 is not radical and almost everything is the same in both customization layers. Samsung can’t afford to release two of the same skins, so it has implemented some interesting changes to encourage users to upgrade .

The bad news is that, at the moment, only the Galaxy S22, S22+ and S22 Ultra can try these new features. For the rest of the users, it will be necessary for Samsung to launch One UI 4.1 in the rest of the catalog. Something that we do not know if it will happen or if it will happen soon.

Interface Changes

The general interface of One UI 4.1 maintains the design , colors and many of the functions. There are 3 new features that come with the update and that complement the Samsung interface a little more.

More complete Virtual RAM: The virtual RAM of devices with One UI 4.1 can now be chosen. Until now they were 4 GB and now you can select between the options 2, 4, 6 and 8 GB . Not an incredible change, but interesting if you have a lot of free storage.

Smart Widgets: The widget section now includes a smart widget that can be combined. You have the option to include 3 widgets inside and switch between them to save space on the home screen. They can be resized and customized with colors, something quite interesting for those who are more careful with design.

Extra Max Brightness: Screen brightness settings now show a very cool option. If you deactivate the automatic brightness, a section called ‘Maximum Brightness’ appears. This indicates that it increases the brightness of the panel to the maximum, but that in return much more battery will be used.

camera changes

One UI 4.1 is an update intended to make changes to the camera interface and features. The really interesting thing is when you press the camera icon and see what’s new.

Night portrait mode: now the night portrait mode has the possibility to act on the main sensor and also on the x3 zoom sensor of the devices. It gives more play when taking a portrait in low light or in complete darkness.

Portrait mode in video with zoom: another novelty is being able to activate portrait mode in video with the x3 zoom sensor. Until now, only a video could be made in portrait mode with the main sensor.

Pro mode on all sensors – The biggest change in One UI 4.1 is that all sensors now have access to manual mode. You can modify the shooting parameters regardless of the sensor you want to shoot with. This opens a gigantic door for the most avid in photography.

More sensors for Instagram: Samsung knows the importance of social media and has implemented wide-angle and zoom sensors on Instagram, Snapchat, and TikTok . If you want to record content from these applications, you can now make use of the different sensors simply by making a pinch gesture on the screen.

These are the changes that SamMobile has found, for the moment, in One UI 4.1. If you have a relatively current Samsung you should be attentive, as it is likely that in the near future you will be able to update.
