Androids keep overheating, but… whose fault is it? Discover it here

Android tiene un problema de sobrecalentamiento que se esta extendiendo

The problem of overheating of Android phones is a story that will never end , or so it seems. Not even with the release of the latest from Qualcomm, the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1, has it been possible to solve this problem that has been affecting Android for years. This powerful processor debuted the 4nm manufacturing process which, in theory, would optimize power consumption and reduce chipset temperatures.

However, a few weeks after its launch, news began to leak that the new Qualcomm was having heating problems. And the worst thing is that this problem is not exclusive to the American manufacturer of processors .

Recent reports indicate that all the most powerful Android phones of 2022 could be overheating. This is because it was reported that not only the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 is overheating , but also the Dimensity 9000 and Exynos 2200. So if not Qualcomm… Who is responsible for this overheating? Join us to discover it.

ARM may be to blame for Android overheating issue

ARM puede ser el culpable de que el problema de sobrecalentamiento de los Android se extienda

With the launch of the most powerful new processors on the market (Snapdragon 8 Gen 1, Dimensity 9000 and Exynos 2200) overheating problems were revived and a hunt for possible culprits began. Qualcomm and Samsung were the first to be singled out for this drawback.

On the one hand, the South Korean brand is blamed for its inefficient 4nm technology with which the first Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 was manufactured. It is even rumored that, for this reason, Qualcomm will order the production of the Plus version of this processor to TSMC . Instead, others attribute these overheating problems to the American brand , remembering that it has already happened to them with the Snapdragon 820 and the Snapdragon 810.

Now, according to the guys at BusinessKorea , the real culprit for this problem could be ARM . Although this semiconductor company does not manufacture its own chipsets, it does design the CPUs used by SoCs from Qualcomm, MediaTek and Samsung.

The Cortex-X2 and Cortex-A710 are the main processor cores that are overheating. This could explain the reason for this problem that occurs in both the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 and the Dimensity 9000 and the Exynos 2200.

Apple also collaborates with ARM to manufacture their processors, so why don’t they have this problem?

ARM is also responsible for the design of the architecture used by the vast majority of SoCs on the market: the famous ARM architecture. However, everything seems to indicate that the problem is only in the design of the cores and not in this section. Why? Well, because Apple’s A15 Bionic processor also uses the ARM architecture, but it doesn’t overheat .

It’s important to note that Apple’s processors use cores of their own design, not ARM’s . This seems to be the key to understanding that Android’s overheating problem is in their CPUs.
