August 10 is really close and with it a new Galaxy Unpacked in which Samsung will reveal several new features. However, the closer the day gets, the more things leak out about the company’s upcoming devices.
The prices of the Galaxy Z Fold 4, Z Flip 4 and the new Samsung smartwatches were recently leaked. Now, the latter are the protagonists again, as all the details of the Galaxy Watch 5 and 5 Pro were leaked before their launch. Get to know them before their presentation so you can run to buy them as soon as they are available.
The Galaxy Watch 5 and 5 Pro will be very similar to the Galaxy Watch 4, perhaps too much
When the Galaxy Watch 4 launched, it caused a sensation: lots of power, good design, and a completely revamped Wear OS with a ton of new features. Now, almost a year after the presentation of those, the Galaxy Watch 5 and 5 Pro come to replace them. However, the leaks suggest that the new Samsung smartwatches will share many things with their predecessors , something that may not be liked too much.
The design of the Galaxy Watch 5 is one of them, as they will follow the same line as their brothers with a circular screen and silicone straps . However, there is no information about a possible Galaxy Watch 5 Classic, so the rotating bezel present in these variants seems to be lost.
Regarding the dimensions, the Galaxy Watch 5 will be available in two sizes : 40 mm and 44 mm. Meanwhile, the Galaxy Watch 5 Pro will have only one option: 46 mm. Once again, this is something that the previous model inherits, so a screen of similar size could be considered.
Internally, history repeats itself, because the Galaxy Watch 5 and 5 Pro will have: Exynos W920 processor, 1.5 GB of RAM, 16 GB of storage and integrated GPS . Come on, the same as in the Galaxy Watch 4, which makes us believe that this new edition is nothing more than a rehash. Luckily, not everything will stay the same, because there are some improvements.
Better charging system, more battery and Wear OS 3.5 are the bets of the Galaxy Watch 5
Although they will share many things with their brothers, the Galaxy Watch 5 and 5 Pro do offer new things. Samsung’s strong commitment will be in the charging and battery system of its new watches, because there will be a substantial jump:
- The Galaxy Watch 5 will have 276mAh (40mm) or 398mAh (44mm) batteries.
- The Galaxy Watch 5 Pro will feature a whopping 572mAh battery .
- Both devices will have a fast charge of 10 W , almost double what the current ones offer.
In addition, the Galaxy Watch 5 and 5 Pro will integrate Wear OS 3.5 with the One UI Watch 4.5 customization layer. The first will be an improvement on the revolutionary Wear OS 3.0 introduced a year ago, while One UI Watch 4.5 will be an update.
Any other improvements? Yes, the resistance. The Galaxy Watch 5 and 5 Pro will feature 5 ATM water resistance, IP68 protection, and military-grade MIL-STD-810G certification . The latter was not present in previous models.
Possible prices, colors and availability of the Galaxy Watch 5 and 5 Pro
Samsung’s new smartwatches will be available to pre-order starting August 10 , after Galaxy Unpacked ends that day. About its colors, this is the information leaked so far:
- Galaxy Watch 5 (40mm) – Rose Gold, Grey, and Silver.
- Galaxy Watch 5 (44mm) – Blue, Grey, and Silver.
- Galaxy Watch 5 Pro (46mm) – Black and Titanium Grey.
Finally, the prices could be the following according to the latest rumors:
- Galaxy Watch 5 (40mm) : €299 for the Bluetooth model and €349 for the LTE model.
- Galaxy Watch 5 (44mm) : €329 for the Bluetooth model and €379 for the LTE model.
- Galaxy Watch 5 Pro (46mm) : €469 for the Bluetooth variant and €499 for the LTE version.
