50 new free games are coming to Netflix this year

Gaming fans can expect more than 50 new free games on Netflix in 2022 , as the streaming platform continues to bet on video games to complement its catalog of series, movies and other programs.

The Exploding Kittens game was recently added, which will also have a series, and this is just a small preview of what is not expected. Netflix will continue to add games for Android and iOS , which will be 100% free for its customers, without advertising or additional micropayments.

Netflix has released its own games in the past, such as Stranger Things: 1984, set in the horror series. But its strategy in general has opted for low cost, and is based mainly on acquiring existing games and making them exclusive to its subscribers , with little change.

Titles like Asphalt Xtreme, Bowling Ballers, Wonderputt Forever or Card Blast, among other games available on Netflix, are quite simple. They do not intend to make Netflix attractive to gaming fans, they are one more complement to its extensive catalog.

Netflix has bought Fight Entertainment, Next Games and Night School Studio , which aren’t top-tier developers but will help it release higher-quality, more original games throughout 2022 or beyond.

On the other hand, collaborations in the opposite direction are much more ambitious. Netflix has created successful series of some of the most well-known games, including League of Legends, The Witcher and Castlevania, and the strategy is likely to continue with new franchises.

Netflix has lost subscribers in recent months and there are many doubts about its economic future. Especially when a new Netflix price hike in 2022 is imminent, so you need to convince users to continue paying for the service.

In short, we should expect a reinforcement of the game catalog on Netflix by 2022 , although it will not compete with dedicated services such as Xbox Game Pass or the renewed PlayStation Plus for the most enthusiastic gamers.
