1. Check if your network connection is good, CuteRank cannot query keyword rankings without internet connection;
2. Check if CuteRank has been blocked by your firewall (also Windows built-in firewall), anti-virus (Of course CuteRank contains no virus) or other security software;
3. If you are not using API to query keyword positions, please disable it in Options->API by uncheck the API box;
4. If you are using API to query keyword positions, please make sure your API is correct;
5. If you are not using proxies to query keyword positions, please disable it by untoggle the proxy button on toolbar;
6. If you are using proxies, please make sure the proxies works well; some proxies may not allow automatic queries;
7. If you got a lot “Update Failed” error messages on Yahoo, you could try reset your IP address if you are using a dynamic IP network; Or you should wait one hour then try again if you have a static IP address.
8. If you got a lot “Update Failed” error messages on Google, and you have thousands keywords to check, then you need to set the “Check keyword delay” settings more bigger(like 8 secs), and wait some minutes then try again.
9. If have check all the above circumstances, and CuteRank still gives you “Update Failed”, please try restarting the program. Please make sure there is only one CuteRank process in the Task Manager

Here is the process how to create multiple profiles by importing profiles from text file.

First of all we need to create a text file with your websites and keywords in following format:

Then let’s open CuteRank and select “Import Profiles from File” in the “Profile” drop down menu;

Select the text file with you profiles and keywords in the fixed format and click open:

Then set search engines for each profile, when you are done, click “OK”

That’s all, these websites with their separate keywords will be added to CuteRank and ready for keyword rank monitoring

In CuteRank v 2.4.0 and later versions you can see a search box under the profile list, this is what we call it, the “Quick Keyword Filter”. When you type in the search box, the keywords in the profile list will be intelligently and dynamically filtered. Let’s take a look:

If I want to check the ranking performance of “keyword position”, then I need to type “keyword position” in the search box. In fact, I only typed “keyword po” when I got the result I needed.

Let’s take an example, if you are providing SEO service for a client who’s owning website domain.com

Step 1. Use the “Export Profile” function (commercial edition) to export profile “domain.com”. You can select a specific time range.

Step 2. Ask your client to download a free edition of CuteRank. It’s free, so it’s meaning there is no attached cost to your SEO service.

Step 3. Send your client the exported profile file through the Internet or bring it to them in a portable device if you’d like.

We may have some major keywords for our website but we cannot afford neglecting those long tail keywords based on these major keywords. Take keyword “rank checker” for example, we can develop many long tail keywords based on “rank checker”, such as “free rank checker”, “keyword rank checker”, “website rank checker” etc. These keywords are also needed to be considered in our SEO process and they really can bring targeted traffic.

Now in CuteRank we can organized related keywords in keyword group and it really helps us to get a better view of how some related keywords are ranking in search engines. Take a look at the sreenshot on the left you will understand the beauty of keyword groups.

Step 1. Click Help -> Check Updates

If CuteRank fails to install the update, then you can follow these steps:

Step 4. Run “update.exe”

Click on “Keyword” menu and then select “Update Remaining Keywords”

To update multiple keywords’ rankings, press the “Ctrl” key and select the keywords you want to update from the keyword list on the left, then right click and select “Update Selected Keywords”, then CuteRank will only update these selected keywords’ rankings.

For example, if we want to check our keyword rankings in the top 30 search engine results:

Click Tools->Options->General, and you will find the place to edit search result depth (check the following screenshot)

Then we select “30″ as the search depth, click “OK” to confirm your setting.

After that CuteRank will only search top 30 results on search engines to check your keyword rankings and the ranking chart will be little different, displaying only the trend line in top 30 rankings.

First let’s take a look what a note is:

Then you get my idea, besides rank and date, there is the note, you can write anything about it.

All you need to do is to right-click on a single node on the ranking chart then you will see an “Add Note” notice, click on the notice you’ll be able to edit the note.

After you have entered your note, click “Add” to add the note for the node. Node with a note and node without a note will be different in display. Those nodes with notes will be displayed as square nodes, and those nodes without notes will be displayed as round nodes. So you can easily distinguish nodes with notes with the nodes without notes then review your SEO efforts.
